Abstract
La Residencia se organiza en torno a un eje longitudinal que conecta todos los espacios, amplios y numerosos. En la planta baja se encuentran los espacios principales y los servicios, mientras que el segundo piso albergaba originalmente cuatro dormitorios, complementados por una amplia dependencia en el tercer piso, a modo de mansarda.
La orientación de la residencia hacia el norte y el este favorece la iluminación natural. Siguiendo la tradición de la época, los espacios más importantes se disponen con vistas a la calle.
La construcción se fundamenta en la madera, aunque la fachada norte está estucada y las otras tres están revestidas de hojalatería. El pino oregón se emplea en la estructura, adoptando la forma tradicional de un entramado relleno de adobillo. Las terminaciones son predominantemente de madera, con elaborados trabajos de carpintería. Otros materiales empleados son el papel mural en los muros internos y el metal, presente en la escalera helicoidal de hierro forjado y en el revestimiento ornamental de la mansarda, que simula el cinc imbricado.
The Residence is organized around a longitudinal axis that connects all the spacious and numerous spaces. The main spaces and services are located on the ground floor, while the second floor originally housed four bedrooms, complemented by a large dependency on the third floor, like a mansard. The orientation of the residence to the north and east favors natural lighting. Following the tradition of the time, the most important spaces are arranged with views of the street. The construction is based on wood, although the north facade is stuccoed and the other three are clad in sheet metal. Oregon pine is used in the structure, adopting the traditional form of a frame filled with adobe. The finishes are predominantly wooden, with elaborate carpentry work. Other materials used are wallpaper on the interior walls and metal, present in the wrought iron spiral staircase and in the ornamental cladding of the mansard, which simulates the imbricated zinc.
