Abstract
La elección del tema Historia de la Arquitectura no es casual. Pensando en el Seminario como una de las últimas etapas en mi formación como profesional, entendí que no podía salir de la escuela sin tener una visión de la Arquitectura que se realizó en Chile. La carencia del vocabulario estilístico no me permitía leer ese maravilloso pasado que nada tiene que envidiarle a obras de estilos similares realizados en Europa. Solo veía a Valparaíso como un gran anfiteatro lleno de situaciones espaciales, visión necesaria, pero no suficiente para la comprensión de la Arquitectura del puerto. La existencia de un tema de historia de la arquitectura, me dio la oportunidad de contestar interrogantes y aprender parte de ese lenguaje estilístico por mí desconocido.
The choice of the topic of History of Architecture is not accidental. Thinking of the Seminar as one of the last stages in my professional training, I understood that I could not leave school without having a vision of the Architecture that was built in Chile.The lack of stylistic vocabulary did not allow me to read that wonderful past that is in no way inferior to works of similar styles made in Europe. I only saw Valparaíso as a large amphitheater full of spatial situations, a necessary vision, but not sufficient for the understanding of the Architecture of the port.The existence of a history of architecture topic gave me the opportunity to answer questions and learn part of that stylistic language that was unknown to me.
