Abstract
For an architecture student, it is always interesting to visualize the concrete projection of the study, what can be done in our field of work, and in what reality we will have to develop and aspire - perhaps - to make a contribution as professionals. This interest, at the university level, touches in our case with preference on the city, the framework of the work of its inhabitants, the open book where we find its past and present history, and where its destiny is announced. When choosing the Theme of Architectural History, I wanted to reconnect with a concern that began in the early years of school for Valparaíso and its history. It is true that the workshop requires situating oneself with respect to the city and taking into account its heritage, but neither the urgency of time nor a special course in Chilean Architecture - which was not offered at that time - allowed us to take a very clear position or say, at the end of the degree, that this interest was satisfied. That is why I chose this topic.
